This website represents one of over 670 lay Diamond Way Buddhist centers of the Karma Kagyu Tradition under the spiritual guidance of His Holiness the 17th Karmapa, Trinley Thaye Dorje, and directed by Lama Ole Nydahl.
Diamond Way Buddhism is a lay organization of the Karma Kagyu lineage, which is one of the four major schools of Tibetan Buddhism. The meditation methods used by Diamond Way Buddhism are all traditional, and are presented in a modern, Western setting accessible to all. Through our meditation centers and courses worldwide, many people are able to use and benefit from Buddha’s timeless methods.
The highest of the three levels of Buddha’s teachings is called Vajrayana in Sanskrit, or Dorje Thegpa in Tibetan, which translates to “The Diamond Way”.
The Diamond Way organization was founded by Lama Ole Nydahl and is one of the various schools that teach Vajrayana Buddhism. His Holiness the 16th Karmapa, Ranjung Rigpe Dorje, asked Lama Ole and his wife Hannah to preserve and make available the teachings of the Karma Kagyu, especially in the West.. The mission is to teach Buddhism and found centers in the name of the Karmapa.
Our work is based on the friendship and idealism shared amongst practitioners. As such, all work is carried out on the basis of voluntary work and contributions.
